Aftermath picture of Harold Kite's car after getting struck in the drivers side door by Frank Warren at a race in Charlotte in 1965. Kite died in this crash.

A crash and subsequent fight between leaders Cale Yarborough and Donnie Allison, along with Donnie's brother Bobby, during the Daytona 500 in 1979 brought national publicity to NASCAR.

Motor racing's first ever fatality in 1898 when the Marquis de Montaignac lost control and swerved in front of a car driven de Montariol, forcing it up a bank where it overturned. The driver escaped but his mechanic was crushed. De Montaignac turned to see what what was unfolding and lost control again, and rolled his car over into a field. His mechanic died instantly and de Montaignac a few hours later, before which he had admitted full responsibility for the accident.

I'm about 45 minutes away from this racetrack... One of the fastest half mile asphalt tracks in the world. Scary fast, huge banks... A lot of drivers have had careers ended or lost their lives at this track. Sprint car driver Rich Vogler was one of the most notable. This track is still in operation.

Gramps died. Been in los Angeles for last week sorting it all out. I will be back tomorrow with all kinds of good stuff for everybody. And the question about searching this thread I have a great way to do that and will make a post about it.
