Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

Alvin, there was a video you mentioned a few pages back. My apologies that I cannot remember what it was supposed to be, without digging through each page?

Any progress with that?

And again, thank you ALL for the posts in here. I've always had a morbid curiosity with these types of accidents. This thread is more than I could have ever hoped for.

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

I just posted one of my Bellof folders, if you already posted some of these im sorry
Alvin,

I could be wrong, but the 3rd picture looks more like Manfred Winklehock's fatal crash at Mosport a few weeks prior to Bellof's.

Dangerous cars those 956s, all the structural integrity of a deck of cards. Several drivers were hurt in them, with the fatals mounting up as well.

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

Excellent post. Long time racing fan, engineer, my family has worked in the racing industry since the late 1940's. I hate to see anyone get hurt in auto racing but... The aftermath interests me so much. Your missing some good ones tho. Dale Sr. Not a lot of good photos but there are some post/ interior shots of the car out there. Also Alex Zanardi. Not a lot of pics floating around out there but the ones there are are quite amazing. I read he lost all but one quart of blood on the track that day and he is still alive. Despite the fact that he lost both legs immediately from the knee down it is rumored he will be racing in Formula 1 next season. Well keep up the good work, hopefully we can keep this thread going. Would like to see some Dan Wheldon pics eventually. Cheers!

Im sure that your right, its real easy to get a picture mixed up or named wrong, and I didnt really go over the Beloff pictures like I normally do before posting

I will try to find my Winklehock folder and if it is in there then im positive it got put into both folders

Thanks for the heads up

There are some chilling pictures on page 12 of Zanardi.. how he ever lived through that one baffles me..

Ok here is the first video I just converted, the second one is having problems

This is the only "incomplete footage" that is known to exist of the 3rd and 4th camera angles

Where is the rest of both films? You can see that they cut off short and show a limited amount of aftermath

The missing parts of both films is my biggest Unsolved Mystery in racing

I have even called Robert Stack to no avail

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

When the F1 teams arrived at Montjuich Park street curcuit for the Spanish GP 1975 they soon discovered that much of the armo barrier surrounding the track was not secured properly.
In the end mechanics and team bosses were having to sort out these issues.

Rolf Stommelen was driving the Embassy Hill GH1, the team owned and managed by the twice World Champion Graham Hill.

Rolf was leading the race when he lost his rear wing and the car flew over the barrier and into the crowd, killing four spectators and breaking Stommelen's legs.

Rolf was a top Sportcar driving winning the Daytona 24 hours four times. He began in F1 in 1970 driving a Brabham and finished 3rd in Austria.

Rolf lost his life in a huge crash in a US sportcar event in 1983.

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

Drivers got out to help, and fire marshalls were quickly on the scene but tragically there was no saving Pedro Rodriguez.
I have a scan of the most ludicrous title for a story in a racing magazine in history
