Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
A good quality photo of one of our regulars, Italian Andrea de Cesaris just after his huge crash at the British GP 1991 at the Silverstone track when the suspension of his Jordan-Ford 191 broke on lap 41 and he hit the wall. He walked away uninjured and finished the season in 9th place with nine points, with best results of two 4th places. He was also running 2nd late on at the Belgium GP before retiring with gearbox issues.

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
Oddly enough I watched Rush yesterday and it didn't pop up in the film, but it's clear that the surroundings and general settings are the same, so imo it's clearly a "scene" shot. We know it's definitely not Koinigg (though the fundamentals of the film scene mirror his & Cevert's crashes) as he wore a dark (black or blue) helmet. Pictures of his actual crash show the helmet sitting near the rear of the car. Incidentally, Rush was damn good (if you allow a few Hollywood truths) and Daniel Bruhl (Lauda) was simply magnificent. |

Quite few of Mondo documentaries are mentioned in this thread. I wonder if they are available somewhere still, or if the correct titles for the documentaries are known. Just hoping to maybe acquire them... |

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
Larry Smith's fatal crash during the 1971 Talladega 500. Larry spun his Mercury on lap 14 at turn one, the impact didn't appear that serious but Smith had incured fatal head injuries. Larry had competed in 38 Nascar races from 1971 and was Rookie of the Year in 1972. He had nine top ten finishes with the best results of two sixth places in 1972. |
