Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
The catchfence actually did its job. Daytona has crossover gates where fans with "FanZone" tickets can access the tri-oval and infield area, for pre-race ceremonies, from the outside. They open these approximately 6 foot wide gates and put removable stairs down to the racing surface. Kyle Larson's car happened to hit JUST EXACTLY in this 6 foot area that was not as sturdy as the regular catch-fence. So, basically, this let the nose of his car protrude into the gate, and once the car made contact with the regular catchfence, it didn't give and tore the whole front end of the car off. The barrier DID do its job, believe it or not. It stopped the engine and whole front of the car just inside of the fencing. The wheel assembly that you see in the stands actually came OVER the fence. There are so many false reports, from credible sources, I have already seen. I was right there. Saw it all. Saw everyone carted out on stretchers. Until this experience I had never really realized how quickly facts and rumors are clouded together. lol I have done numerous interviews already, and some stations as far as 5 states away have shown these pics and my interviews. Right now, Sports Illustrated is deciding if they will be using any of these photos as well! I know its not much, but I actually feel like I have finally contributed SOMETHING, somewhat worthy to this AWESOME threaad! Enjoy!

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
McLaren dominated the 1988 F1 season winning 15 of the 16 rounds. The only one they lost was the Italian GP at Monza when Ayrton Senna tangled with Jean-Louis Schlesser's Williams-Judd on his F1 debut. Jean-Louis is Jo Schlesser's (who perished during a horrific crash during the French GP in 1968) nephew. This was Jean-Louis one and only GP start and was classified in 11th place. He was a very successful Sportcar driver, winning the title in 1989 and '90. |
