Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
There's lots of Martin Donnelly posts on this thread but this I think is a new one, Martin being stretchered away with F1 surgeon Sid Watkins by his side after his huge crash at the Spanish GP 1990.

...that's the film rush...there's a few photo's going around and I think an official film website. The above decapitated head prop is shown near to a smashed blue F1 car that reminded me of Cevert's Tyrrell.

Photo purporting to be wreckage from Didier Pironi's career ending shunt at the German GP 1982. See post on page 49 for more photos.

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
Please tell me that "Rush" hasn't fallen into a graphic re-hash of the actual facts. FFS, I think the story of 76 has enough in it alone to capture the attention, it doesn't need a situation where it alleges a driver was decapitated (frankly as he was split in half through his torso I think that would be gruesome enough). It'll show a guy virtually burning to death anyway, let's hope that's the extent of it's crash action. |

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
AK posted a load of Jim Malloy photos on page 55, this is one of them but its a bit clearer so I thought it worth a post (third photo). Jim crashed his Eagle in practise for the 1972 Indy 500 at around 186mph when the car snapped right into the wall. Jim was trapped in the wreckage for around ten minutes, he was terribly injured and never did regain consciousness, losing his fight for life three days later. Jim took part in 61 USAC races during the 1967-1972 seasons, with a career best of 2nd at Milwaukee in 1969. He finished 4th at Indy in 1971. |

Rick Muther crashes his Cheetah-Ford during qualifying for the 1968 Indy 500. Rick had 46 combined career starts with a best result of 5th, once in 1968 the other in '72.

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
Chris Amon's Ensign shed one of it's front wheels in a fast left hander at the 1976 Belgian Grand Prix at Zolder causing the car to roll twice up a bank. Chris was lucky to walk away. Chris drove for Ferrari's F1 team from 1967 to 1969 and should have won a sackful of races as well as the Championship in 1968 if the car had been reliable, but somehow something always went wrong and he never did win a race. Amon was the winner of the 1966 Le Mans 24 hour race. |

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
Mega rare aftermath footage of the Tom Pryce and Jansen Van Vurren accident This is ultra rare footage showing Tom Pryce being taken out of his car from another angel then the rare Super 8 footage that I posted a long time ago I hate to be gruesome but you can see the massive injury to Pryce's neck where his helmet strap nearly decapitated him Horrific footage |
