Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
Found this unnamed MotoX clip in a random file Its a horrific impact with the catch fence Have no info on it so I dont know if its fatal or non fatal, but im positive that if the rider didnt die he suffered severe injuries |

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
you might have already seen it, but around 83-4, formula villeneuve was released. it had footage and interviews with his peers - didier, jacques laffite, alain etc, as well as joanne it was probably made predominately in french, but was overdubbed in english it was insightful and i expect it would have been more interesting and accurate than a movie done 20 years after the event - they couldn't have done the same with senna, because unlike gilles, he did not have the respect of his peers if you can find it,it is worth a look - not entertaining as such, but it probably gives a true reflection of the esteem gilles was held in |

AMAZING post AK! You really would think there would be video footage (showing the full collision) based on how many different photo angles there are. Some photos look like video 'stills'

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
There was a story about an old crash fan who recorded it and it showed the impact, but he said it was so horrific that he recorded a Stock Car race over the footage I dont remember the whole story or the details but if I remember correctly the crash fan was trustwothy |

Interesting. Never heard of that. I've seen some pretty gruesome things in real life and on here, but I can only imagine what would be so bad to make me delete the footage forever |

(Wish I had edit...) even more shocking is for it to make a crash fan delete it. I would've thought of that footage to be holy grail like!

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
A picture of Alan Stacey's fatal wreck from the Belgium GP 1960 that I haven't seen before. Post from page 81- 'On lap 24 Alan Stacey lost control of his Lotus at Malmedy. The car hit a bank, overturned and caught fire. Stacey was thrown out and killed. A rumour started that a bird had hit Alan in the face and knocked him out but writer and jounalist of the time, Robert Daley wrote, "The crash was a mystery, there had been no other car near him and he had not been driving particularly hard. His body was found in the road badly burned, and disarticulated too. The car finished up in a field 10 feet below the level of the road, having climbed a four foot embankment and penetrated a patch of sturdy bushes ten foot thick.' |

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
speaking of birds in the face, my dad (biker enthusiast) and a few friends were riding in English countryside when at a 'considerable speed' a bird flew across the path of one of my dads friends and smacked him straight in the face. The result... Trashed helmet, broken nose, broken cheek bone, teeth knocked out etc... The 'miracle' is, he managed to stay on the bike and bring it to a holt safely! No pictures unfortunately, but just humbles you to think that a helmet is no guarantee of safety.
