John Sheldon's massive Le Mans crash in 1984 while driving a Nimrod Aston Martin at the right-hand kink on the Mulsanne Straight. Sadly track marshall Jacky Loiseau died in this accident and Sheldon was badly burnt.

Nigel Mansell lost control of his Williams FW11B-Honda in the first qualifying session at the esses at Suzuka in 1987. He suffered injury to his back and spine and was unable to contest the remainder of season allowing arch rival Nelson Piquet to win the drivers championship. Nigel's former team manager at JPS Lotus, Peter Warr, once said "Nigel will never win a Grand Prix as long as I have a hole in my arse."

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
I made a Danny Ongais clip a long time ago by splicing footage from ABC and a local TV broadcast together The problem was that it wasnt great quality footage Well I found some clips of better quality and figured that I might as well throw in all of my Danny Ongais crash videos for one nice video Ongais is just like Clay Ragnozzi, he has had some of the most horrific crashes ever seen The CART crash in Michigan where he fliprolls down the track is just jaw dropping, I remember watching the race seeing that and thinkig that he was dead Then the practice crash where he hits the wall super hard and almost pulls a Cogan/Dismore/Firestone and hits the pit road abutment And we all know about his horrifying 1981 crash where he broke both legs, both arms, his jaw, his lower back and lost like 8 teeth I have all of these crashes set to some mello early 90s beat that I love I love Danny Ongais, such a great driver |

In practice for the 1985 1000km of Spa, Dr. Jonathan Palmer in the Richard Lloyd Porsche 956 GTi crashed and ended the weekend for him and his affable teammate David Hobbs. Little did we know the despair the race would entail.

I think everyone at IMS was pulling for him at the '96 Indy 500. We were all unfortunately disappointed he did not pull out the "W" and get to drink the milk... Such a tragic year...

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
One of my buddies taking a heller ride in his sprint car at my hometown dirt track. He was not injured, although he was so sore he couldn't hardly move for 3 days. Josh Burton ran over another cars tire and it immediately sent him airborne. My girlfriends mother had never been to a dirt track race and she came to watch me... She now does not like sprint cars because this crash made her cry! LOL Big baby! She thought he was hurt and I explained this happens all the time in these types of race cars. That made her like them even less.
