Ron Courtney yes. Very bad though he did live. A guy where I worked knew him and was furious with Posey, though Courtney did spin at the bottom of a hill and a blind corner and Posey said there was no yellow flag. Posey was mostly criticized because his mommie bought him another car in the pit lane while Courtney was barely clinging to life.

Swiss driver Tommy Spychiger was killed in his Ferrari P2 at the Monza 1000 KM on April 25th 1965. It was at the Parabolica and he was reportedly decapitated by the windshield when the car went into the trees and burned. It was many years later restored by David Piper.

Edward Glenn 'fireball' Roberts, Jr.

May 24th 1964, at the World 600 in Charlotte, Roberts had qualified in 11th position. On lap 7, Ned Jarrett and Junior Johnson collided and spun, Roberts crashed trying to avoid them. Roberts Ford slammed backward into the inside wall, flipped over and burst into flames. Spectators at the track claimed they heard Roberts screaming for Jarrett to help him. Jarrett rushed to help Roberts as his car was engulfed by the flames. Roberts suffered third-degree burns over 80 percent of his body and was airlifted to hospital in critical condition.

Roberts survived for several weeks. But Roberts' health took a turn for the worse on June 30th 1964. He contracted pneumonia and sepsis and slipped into a coma the next day. He died on July 2nd 1964.

New member and wanted to thank everyone for the pics and vid's. I found this site looking for information about Rolf stommelen's accident at Riverside. Only on page 88 so far, everyone seems to respect the driver's . I came here to find information on some of my favorite drivers and what happened to them. Again thank you all.

Bad news from the Nurburgring as a car in the VLN endurance series flipped coming over the crest at Flugplatz (Flying Place or something like that - I'm not kidding) and went over the barriers & into the crowd.

Latest news is at least 1 fatality and several injuries, the driver seems to be ok. He, the driver, was Jann Mardenborough is mostly famous for winning a competition on the Playstation and getting a full-time drive because of it.

Grainy footage uploading on You-Tube - haven't linked because better and more varied footage will come up shortly. If you're thinking, I've seen & heard of a crash there before, you can visit You-Tube and google Manfred Winklehock - Nurburgring and see how things were done in 1980.

Manfred of course died in a Porsche deathtrap in Mosport in 1985 just a few weeks before his talented countryman Stefan Bellof fell foul of Eau Rouge at Spa in a similar car.
