Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
I remember seeing a video of Rindt lying on a cot after he was pulled from his car. I can't remember the link but it was a black and white pic.

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
I think this was touched upon by someone earlier in the thread, the fatal road crash of the 1958 World F1 Champion, Mike Hawthorn. Mike won the championship in 1958 by one point from Stirling Moss, but lost his best mate and Ferrari team-mate John Collins in a crash that he witnessed at the German GP. After winning the Championship he announced his retirement. It was a wet and windy day on the twenty second of January 1959 when Mike, while driving near Guilford saw F1 team owner Mike Walker in his Mercedes and started racing him. Walker later explained what had happened, "Going into the right-hander the Jaguar slid the rear out about five degrees, this I thought was just Mike playing around, then the car clipped the kerb and spun 180 degrees. The Jaguar spun to face me then started going backwards, the odd thing was, the engine was still at full revs. By now things were getting worse, he clipped the bollards in the centre of the road which ripped the front bumper off the Jaguar which I then ran over, the MK1 travelled backwards across the road clipping the very rear corner of a lorry travelling the other way. I saw the MK1 disappear in a cloud of mud and spray as it left the road. I braked as hard as I dare in the wet conditions and ran across to help Mike out, I fully believed he would be ok and I could say ... 'What the hell were you doing Mike'. When I went to the drivers seat there was no one there, I then saw a trickle of blood as I opened the back door, he had been thrown into the back and was laid across the backseats, his eyes glazed over and he died as I looked on." |

I'm going to guess and say it's someone's body, but I can't make heads or tails of it. I want to say on the second pic it's someone's face upside down after a crash. |
