Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

Martin Donnelly's career, and nearly life ending shunt, in qualifying for the Spanish GP at Jerez in 1990. He survived with multiple injuries.
You know its a bad accident when just reading the name Martin Donnelly sends shivers down your spine

I used to think the worst crash that was survivied was Danny Ongais

But Donnelly's crash makes the Ongais crash look like a shopping cart nicking a car in a Walmart parking lot

Every post has been perfect, I will try to add on whatever I have of the classic drivers you have posted

Im working on something right now and dont want to get sidetracked

Well too sidetracked, im sidetracked 24 hours a day

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

Hi Alvin,

Again, great pictures & dedication. If I may expand on a few claims it may provide a little more information for those who are unfamiliar.

Bandini was alive when pulled from the Monaco crash, obviously doomed though, he lived another 3 days I think, there is a story of his wife trying to console him and a single tear running down his scorched face as he knew the reality.

Senna's cam has always been a source of conspiracy. In the live footage we were online with Schumacher directly behind and the director switched the feed just as Senna speared off the track. Of course there was a camera running in Senna's car at the same time that apparently switched off at the exact same instant.....(the footage of that lap was in the 1994 F1 season review). It's claimed that the director worked on a "delay" and therefore was able to see what had happened and swapped the feed. Bullshit imo.

The claim on Courage was he was killed by the wheel flying back into his face rather than being burned. Given that there was no inclination to hide deaths & the causes at that time in history, I'm inclined to think that's a true account.

I've seen an aftermath shot of Ignazio Giunti after his 1971 crash which Alvin may have access to.

WRT Williamson, Niki Lauda was quite ignorant after the fact, basically saying something like "We're drivers, not marshalls, we race, not put out fires" - wonder how he felt in 1976 as his fucking ears melted. Bet he was glad 4 drivers decided to help him!

Here's hoping for more nostalgia Alvin

The Senna documentary has some footage of this one... the video of him laying in the track motionless is pretty powerful

First things first, I have been waiting to post about Ignazio Giunti, film of that crash was for a long time the most wanted rare crash at the top of every collectors list, now it has been online for a while but you still have to know about this crash (most casual fans do not) to find the video (unless you stumble across it)

That is until now where you can just stumble across this thread

Pics will follow

Ok first of all Jean-Pierre Beltoise, and dont care how good he was, he is by far the biggest dip shit on earth (yes he is still alive) and his stupidity cost the life of a great driver.

Pushing his fucking car down the track while others race by him at 160mph

Seriously the stupidest thing I have ever seen not just in racing but in the history of the universe

Anyways now that thats out of my system

Watch Beltoise pull a bullfighter move and not even get hit by a spec of debris, and of course he is not even touched while Giunti is horribly killed, stupid and drunk people who get in accidents always come out unhurt, while the innocent ones are killed

Also watch the slo-mo replay and stop frame, you can Giuntis helmet/head just get crushed by the left side rear corner of the car of Beltoise

The words horrifying, horrible, brutal, and all of those work for this crash

But the words that pop into my head are

Anger

Stupidity

Unfair

To tie him together with a previously mentioned driver, I think was related to Francois Cevert, he married Cevert's sister I believe.

Cevert is the subject of an interesting story about how his death was predicted prior to turning 30. The race at Watkins Glen in 1973 was the last race he'd have done before he had his 30th birthday. Spooky, if you believe in that stuff!

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)

Yes he married Cervet's sister, I guess he was the real life version of the charming womanizing Pepé Le Pew

To bad Cervet didnt catch him cheating on his sister before a race in Monte Carlo or someplace romantic so he could run him over in the pits on race day

In all seriousness im sure everyday he thinks about that, he has to

If heard that he didnt think about it at least once a day, I would have an instant Brain Aneurysm, followed by a heart attack and stroke at the same time a second or two later

I almost have my the file done, be on the look out
