Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
AlvinKarpis - Like most here, I cannot thank you enough for these posts. The time it took to place these on here, much less, actually collecting these over the years, is simply amazing. Quick question and a comment: Do you have any actual footage of the 1997 Fuji Grand Prix crash? That would be something to behold! Also, once reoccurring thing I keep noticing about these photos, is how very little protection these drivers have. While the actual cockpit may offer rollcage protection for the drivers, I keep seeing pics (directly after the wreckage comes to a stop or even mid-crash) where the driver's legs are totally exposed and unprotected. Do these cars not afford any type of protection to the driver's lower half? Or is the physics of the crashes themselves simply too much for the that part of the cage to handle? |

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
First off thank you for the kind words The Yokoyama Crash at Fuji, ok there are some rumors that there is footage out there but will never be released (its most likely BS) There is a clip that catches the crash right after the car (whats left of it) hit the ground, but you dont see the car launch into the air or the hit The pictures alone are so shocking that footage of the crash would be on another level And leg injuries are the most common I have Ronnie Petersons X-rays |

I remember seeing it on YouTube. They had a couple of videos that had good pictures of the body. And thank you SOOOO MUCH for putting up a racing accident post. |

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
Yes he is checking his pulse, because of the bad quality its hard tp make out his body but in the green photo its easier to see, he is laying at an upward angle going into the twisted metal of what used to be his car, with his legs kind of bent behind him If I have time tonight I will go into Paint and try to put some marks to help you and anybody else make Cervet out It took me a long time before my eyes told my brain what I was seeing, not just in the Cervet photos but in countless others I have a non-fatal that should have been fatal up next |

I love this thread, it's great!! Could you do me one favor please? I'm not too familiar with these older drivers, so could you provide their full names with the pics/info? Thank you. |

Re: Indy/Formula One: Fatal and Non Fatal Crash Photos (Stop Motion, Color, B&W)
Edit: Moved all Derek Daily to this post Derek Daily: CART: Detroit 1984 I call this the original Alex Zanardi crash because both drivers were hit by another car and suffered graphic leg injuries (no disrespect to either driver as they both survived despite massive injuries. In fact no disrespect to any driver dead or alive in any post I make) Here are some close ups of his broken legs, the reason his shoes look like the tongue is flapped out is because both shin bones are sticking out down by the top of both feet inside his racing suit |
