According to them, she never regained consciousness after the strangulation and blow to the head, but this allowed her death to have all of the appearance of an actual suicide.

Interesting plot twist. They were good at making this look like an actual suicide.

Outstanding resolution to this! Thanks for reporting on it, Vedderman! These cops must have been smarter than the average bear. Plus the family insisting on an autopsy. Surprisingly good police work for a country like that. I'm sure it doesn't happen often. Just like all the dowry wives in India that burn to death.

They say she was hanged unconscious. I wonder if she just died unconscious or if she went conscious after being hung then died. Seems her tongue was bitten during the hanging process, so does this means she went conscious at least some seconds, struggling and biting her tongue?

Who knows. Biting the tongue and pissing your pants are both very common in hangings and strangulations. The postmortem exam said she did both, but it's likely not possible to determine whether one or either happened during throttling or hanging or both.
