you dont necessarily need to be suspended to hang yourself. all you have to do is make sure its tight, let your body relax, and its lights out in a few seconds. just like getting choked out. once you've been there long enough you'll die, probably wont even feel a thing.

It seems that a lot of people commit suicide using hammocks. Most news bits come from Mexico where it seems that the suicide rates are skyrocketing lately.

I couldn't find one matching the picture. I found teens, males too young to look like that in drag, an old guy that could have been but it was a terrace with a fence all around (where the hammock was hanged) and the picture looks like a patio. The closest one is a woman 46 years old, the one in the picture looks older but it could be because she was an alcoholic like her husband who died of cirrhosis.

"MÉRIDA, Yucatán.- One more person joined the long list of suicides by hanging herself with a hammock. With this one, there were 84 cases in Yucatán this year.

María Margarita del Carmen May Cel, 46, killed herself yesterday inside the appartment number 9, 66 street, between 103 and 105 in the neighborhood Melitón Salazar, where it was the "red light district" some time ago. It seems that one of her sons found her hanged.

According to the first reports, the woman was tired of living by herself, her husband died a couple months ago due to cirrhosis of the liver. He, like the deceased woman, was a consuetudinary drinker.

Paramedis from the SSP arrived but there was nothing they could do, just report to the authorities, because the woman had been for about two hours hanging from the hammock.

Finally, personnel from the PGJE (judiciary) showed up with forensics, photographers and medics, performed they duties and transported the body to the morgue for the post-mortem. The suicidal woman left six sons behind."
thats very common in a state called yucatan, in mexico, were i live, a lot of people commit suicide by hanging them selves from a hammock
