A German resident was found dead in his South Pattaya apartment on Thursday. The man aged 56 was found on his balcony with a electric cable from an extension plug was tied around his neck with the other end tied to his Air-Conditioning compressor unit. A forensic Doctor was called to the scene and it was determined he had been dead for at least 2 days. The owner of the apartment confirmed the man had occupied the room for only 6 days and for the last 2 days music has been played in the room through a Laptop Computer and the back door to the apartment, leading to the balcony, had remained open, which caused concern. No evidence of a disturbance was found in the room but Police did notice bottles of Thai Whisky and a half-empty glass of whisky on a table and determined that the man had a Thai Wife and the pair had lived together in Suphanburi Province for the last 3 years. Recently the pair split after the man allegedly attacked his step-son and with the threat of Police action over him, he decided to travel to Pattaya to live. Police will send the body of the man to the Police Forensic Institute in Bangkok for a post mortem examination and the German Embassy in Bangkok have been informed of the death.
