Re: The Human Torch Mystery (Spontaneous Human Combustion)

Wick affect works because of the gas flue caused by high temperatures beyond the flash point. Spontaneous combustion is an enigma at best. How does a body reach these high temps and not ignite in many cases everything else around it. Edgar Casey wrote of this years ago without a real explanation. I read an old book Beyond Belief talking about the phenomenon.

One thing is for sure, the documented cases are real. They, even when explained makes us question the results. One more to file with the UFO and Bigfoot enigmas.

Re: The Human Torch Mystery (Spontaneous Human Combustion)

I have seen it.

I still remain unconvinced. Science is not about what may be, it is about indisputable evidence. And yes some times science does not embrace what could be fact. Key words are "what could be."

Frankly this is the difference between science and religion. Blind belief versus indisputable mathematical evidence.

I'm not arguing with you, I am a science fiction fan. I know we do not know everything yet.

You have to understand the rules of science is a relatively knew concept in our progression as Human Beings. Science likes to break it down into three groups. Enigma, Theory, and Fact.

Enigma's gets your attention, Theory sounds good and looks like it can be proven mathematically, but we don't have the formula yet. And fact is a proven mathmatical formula.

Understand Einstein's theory of Relativity still has holes. Science is every bit as slow to embrace as Religion.

What I'm trying to say here is Spontaneous Combustion is not proven and likely will not be in yours or my lifetime. Though it is apparent something is happening here.

I think you mean Edgar Cayce...

Anyway, I know of no well-documented example of so-called "spontaneous human combustion" that cannot be explained by the wick effect. If you can cite a counter-example, I'd love to hear of it.
