I've had these photos saved for about 15 months now, but haven't bothered to share them publicly. There's really not that much to show other than these two pictures taken on a mobile, but they might be of interest to somebody. They were taken by a friend of mine who is a structural engineer employed with the state road authority. Around March of 2019, these human remains were uncovered in a rural part of Victoria, Australia. The fragment of missing skull is from where an excavator hit during digging operations to build a section of new highway. A mandible with teeth is also visible. Upon this discovery the area was left alone where the local police department was immediately called in.

As this is an active missing persons investigation, the state coroner was tasked with the responsibility to determine his/her identity. Exhumation of the human remains from the original work site was prepared once the area was properly cleared. Suggestion of carbon dating by a team of forensic specialists to determine how long this body had been buried for was also made. Since the area is largely uninhabited, they could've been there for decades. I wish I had more information to share.

A cause of death has not yet been determined and investigations are ongoing.

Beaurocrats love to make a meal out of everything, any civil engineer could tell you in minutes if the ground has been disturbed recently enough to get the cops involved but then they might have to go after real criminals rather than playing with ancient bones.

Looks plenty old to me, unlikely any living person is looking for them.

I was building a road on private land for a farmer-developer a few years ago he warned me about skeletons said if we found any we didn't see anything to plow them right in if the beurocrats got wind of it they would freak out and shut the whole project down for archeology or preservation of sacred burials or whatever. We never found anything but I didn't disagree with him, life goes on.

I love metal-detecting my backyard and have found lots of cool stuff, including animal bones. My dream is to find human remains, preferably several hundred years old at least. Is that weird?

I've always been told that the earth shifts so much that when you go to the cemetery, the body of your loved one has probably moved to a different place. This person could have been buried at the side of the road? It depends how the road was laid.

Apparently the North Pole is moving dramatically toward Russia as of right now.

That's the magnetic North pole, not the geographic one. The land isn't literally moving East at 1km per week, just the position that a compass points to.

I was always shit at Geography and anything to do with it. In fact it was my most hated subject at school.

That's true about bodies moving though, underneath the headstones. I'm not sure how long it said it takes to happen now, but I did read that.
