"Horrific accident closes the N12 East

Two people have been killed and many injured in a horrific accident on the N12 this morning (October 14, 2014) after a truck collided with around 22 vehicles.

EMER-G-MED paramedics and other services were on scene working and assisting scores of patients. Two people were critically injured and airlifted to hospital for urgent medical treatment. Another critically injured patient was transported by ambulance.

Seventeen other patients sustained minor to moderate injuries and were all treated on scene before being transported to hospital for further treatment.

Debris and vehicles are all over the road, the Johannesburg Metro Police Department say the highway will be closed until at least 12 noon to capture all the evidence they need and to clear the scene."
