Hong Kong -- Female Jumpers (big Thread)
1. This girl came from a poor, single-parent family. When this girl was 14, she joined a gang of teenagers and participated in a high-profile case of murder. She was acquitted of actual murder, but was convicted of battery and jailed for 21 months. She was lucky as four of her peers (all juvenile) received the life sentence. Ten years later, she was still a poor woman, now working as a beer promoter, and her boyfriend decided to dump her on Christmas. She decided she'd had enough.    2. In this case, she was wearing her bank teller uniform and was complaining about her arduous work.    6. Teacher suffered from boyfriend issue and jumped off with heavy makeup on.     7.    8. She said in her facebook status, "I look ugly."        9. Teenager exploring her sexual orientation.        10. Another butch lesbian. (Some rookie cop fainted at the scene. Come on, it wasn't even that gory.)     11.    |

I jumped all the way down from a 5 story building. But I was on the escalator, so no gore. No one even noticed me. |

This set is mostly about problems with other people, boyfriend left, body odor tormenters, one thought she was ugly. All of this set of suicide attempts struck me as sad and unnecessary. I guess it takes age and experience to not worry much what other people think of you...

Hong Kong has such a high jumper rate because it's full of people living and working in tall buildings. It's quite a fatal method, and combined with ease of access for impulsive people in some sort of temporary crisis equals quick deaths. When I lived in a high rise I had seriously considered jumping.
