Re: Honduran Woman Self-Destructed
5 weeks pregnant for a woman with a fairly average ovulation date and luteal phase, is normally when a lot of women who aren’t POAS (pee on a stick) addicts will suspect. It means your period is a week late. (POAS people who are trying to conceive can find out as early as a week before the period is even due.) The number of weeks pregnant you are isn’t calculated from when you conceived or even from when you ovulated. But from the first day of your last period. So for around two weeks of that five, you’re not actually pregnant. Would be interesting to know how they calculate someone is 5 weeks pregnant from an autopsy. To see a pregnancy that small you need an internal scan, and all you will see is a yolk sac. Maybe a fetal pole if lucky. And would only be given the estimation of “5 weeks” due to the measurements seen on the scan relating to what you’d expect by that time. I can’t imagine there’d be anything physical to see in a uterus. The embryo is still developing off of the yolk, and the placenta isn’t up and running. Perhaps just a swollen area where the implantation has taken place. But still, you’re talking fucking tiny. I’ve seen autopsies. They slice through organs to look for irregularities. To find an egg that implanted 2-3 weeks previous would have them needing to comb the entire wall of the uterus. Doesn’t seem very realistic. Why would they give a shit? Unless it was from a blood sample, and her level of hCG was what you’d expect for 5 weeks with a singleton. I’d put my money on that I guess. |

Re: Honduran Woman Self-Destructed
I have added a couple of (one censored) postmortem images and several good antemortem images to the thread. The photo editor I contacted said there were 11 photos in the set taken at the scene and I am trying to work to get additional ones, but it's a bit of a struggle. Will update accordingly. The girl's family does believe it was murder, however. Often times they're wrong in such cases, but in any event, it usually means that photos and detail are easier to get ahold of. I have also put in a request for her autopsy report. |

Re: Honduran Woman Self-Destructed
Something of an update here. Still no additional photos, but I have spoken directly with a first responder and also with the guy who found her. I also received the preliminary forensics report from the scene. It was a complete suspension hanging with a nylon rope secured to a ceiling beam and her feet about 2 inches off of the floor. She had used the kitchen table to stand on while tying the noose and then stepped off of it to hang fully suspended. The ligature abrasion on her neck matched the contours and width of the rope she used. No other bruising, scratches, or signs of violence were noted on her neck. No blood was noted around the nares or the lips, nor was any noted on her body or the floor. Her swollen tongue was protruding from between her teeth and past her lips. (VED-this would be a consistent effect with the way the noose had pressed up against her lower jaw). Salivary staining was evident on her lips and her chin. She did not defecate herself, but did urinate extensively while dying. The presence of urine was noted in her underpants, on her shorts, and puddled on the floor beneath her feet. Time of death was estimated at less than an hour before she was discovered and no rigor or livor had set in yet when the first responders arrived. She did not leave a note nor did she discuss suicide with anyone in the immediate family. She did know about the pregnancy (which was about 6 weeks along) and had informed her family about it. Her partner had also spoken openly and with excitement about the pregnancy. All indications were that both were looking forward to it. Her family still maintains the position that the guy killed her, but all signs at the scene point to suicide and the police have not identified him as a potential suspect. |
