Honestly? I think people mix their own insecurities and anger together and find it perfectly acceptable to barrel that baggage at whomever they feel fits the bill. Racists, homophobes, etc.
Instead of minding their own fucking business and/or asking questions, they assume - yet don't want involved in the answer. Plus I'm pretty sure a lot of people are convinced homosexuality is a "choice", and homosexuals choose to make them 'uncomfortable'. Gays may "choose" to deny themselves due to societal and family pressure, that's when they force themselves to marry hetero partners. Something is always missing. They live a lie and die unhappy. Imagine all of your family, friends, random strangers suddenly alienating and singling you out for a particular thing about yourself they don't like. Their words hitting your skin like an acid rain, pure disgust in their face. You have no one. Something is wrong with YOU, it is YOUR fault they are treating you this way. We humans are emotional and creative creatures...the psychological and emotional distress of this abuse is enough to shock a person into even believing themselves that they are fine to live that lie.
I don't understand why it is so hard for some to empathize with the human race...there will never be peace otherwise.

I`m assuming they were killed because of their sexual orientation. Brazil is known for killing transexuals and transvestites. Live and let live. there are alot of caring, compassionate gay people.
