Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Daniele Santos de Almeida, 16, Santo Estêvão, Bahia
On the afternoon of Thursday, November 20, 2014, a collision on Avenida Castro Alves, close to Praça do Bosque in Santo Estêvão, Bahia, Brazil, left a 16-year-old girl dead. She was riding a Honda Pop 100 when it was hit by a GM Corsa pick-up. The impact trapped the motorcycle under the car and crushed the rider against a public lighting pole. The driver escaped from the scene. The girl later died of her injuries after being brought to the Hospital Municipal. Local reporting identified her as Daniele Santos de Almeida. The area was secured by Military Police, while the Civil Police began an investigation. The body was transferred to the Departamento de Polícia Técnica.
