This attitude honestly baffles me. Hippos in captivity are pampered their entire lives. They never go hungry like hippos in the wild often do, as the food and water they get served up is available 24/7, they're not in danger of poachers or predators, they don't have to fight for territory, they're never exposed to extreme elements etc. Yet there's always someone who has to cry and act like it's a tragedy when nature takes it's course. I completely understand the grief pet owners go through when they lose a beloved companion, but moping over an animal you've never met that died of natural causes? What sense does that make? |
