I doubt he was trying to steal copper. The conductors on that 14.4kV line are steel core with an aluminum outer jacket as a conductor. The only copper on that structure would be the ground wire on the pole and possibly the conductors dropping down to the transformer. Looks more like suicide by high-voltage line.  |
