Some of those, like the second image, could have been nitrogen.

Nitrogen or helium can be used. The idea is to displace all oxygen BUT ALSO displace all carbon dioxide. The "panic" people experience when suffocating is from excess CO².

The air we breath is mostly nitrogen, with oxygen and other gasses. Breathing nitrogen is just like breathing air, except you'll become very sleepy and fall asleep and die.

Helium works in a similar manner.

i read a story not too long ago a girl killed herself using the balloon method ..then her mother was so depressed over her dd killing herself..she also killed herself not too long after her..sad thing was she also had another dd and a husband

After seeing these pictures, it's clear to me that people should first literally first dig their own graves and then do their helium suicide in the dirt so that others don't have clean up afterwards.

Nothing new about it. As HS noted, the Hemlock Society has been popularizing this method with its literature (e.g., Final Exit) and video for over 20 years.

Why would you need to hate yourself to do this? If you are suffering from terminal cancer or some other painful and debilitating condition, I would say that your motive is just the opposite.

Btw, the "cleanest" way to do this, is using a full scope scuba mask instead of a plastic bag, you only need to have the right connectors :-P

The method, of course without the bag or scuba mask, is used a lot for cows etc. since some time, saves the animals the stress caused by the "nail" gun...
