Hard Contact Type High Velocity Gunshot Discharge Beneath the Chin
This man committed a suicide with a rifle loaded with .308 Winchester. Note the hard contact type high velocity gunshot discharge beneath the chin, and soot deposition beneath the chin with radial splitting lacerations. Note also the upward passage of the projectile, which causes linear midline splitting laceration to the facial soft issues. The muzzle was angled slightly anteriorly. Much of the brain was expelled in this case. Note petal like disruption and collapse of the calvarium. Sorry for low image quality. I am fascinated with the "starfish" pattern that shotgun shells leave. I think I saw several pictures on another thread and never knew that is what they do.

A common factory loaded .308 cartridge will have a chamber pressure of 58,000psi-62,000psi.
