I had a coworker who was from a village outside of Istanbul, and he never described anything like this especially from Muslums. Yes, I agree with Faust, this is not typical behavior in Turkey.

Yep, Turkey is 95% Muslim, yet it is scrupulously maintained as a secular state by the military. I heard recently, though, that extremist forces were making gains.
