Hans Pozo: Dismembered in Santiago, Chile, 2006
In March 2006, Hans Hernan Pozo Vergara, known as El Rucio, was 19 when he was shot twice in the head, dismembered and left in different locations across southern Santiago, Chile. A stray dog brought a foot from a rubbish dump on March 27, the first remains recovered. Further body parts were found during the next week; the hands had been cut off and four tattoos removed to hinder identification. He was identified on April 6. Businessman Jorge Ivan Martinez Arevalo killed himself two days later when police came to question him, leaving a letter saying Pozo was extorting him and was his biological son. Prosecutors identified Martinez as responsible in 2007, but no one was tried and the case was closed in 2013.  ·  ·  ·  ·  · |
