Re: Hanging Suicide (29 Years Old)
Unfortunately we will never know, still if a person is considered a danger to herself she could have Baker Acted on a temporary bases and then perhaps she could have received the help she may not had realized she needed.

Re: Hanging Suicide (29 Years Old)
I imagine most forum regulars on DR would probably do the same. But the majority of people never even think about it, based on the photos and autopsy reports I've cataloged over the years. A never-ending routine of the worst outfits imaginable and soiled underpants. |

Re: Hanging Suicide (29 Years Old)
This is so true. I often wonder how much thought goes into killing yourself. I would imagine there are those who plan it down to every detail and those who just do it. Right then.

Re: Hanging Suicide (29 Years Old)
Never been suicidal, so I can't provide any first-hand understanding. But I've got two family members who both work in the 'industry', for lack of a better word. One administers a large suicide prevention center and the other does research for same. My understanding is that it is planned the majority of the time. There are notes, warning signs, previous 'test' attempts, etc. I imagine the intricacy of the plans differs from person to person, but planning to some degree seems to be the norm. That seems to include research much of the time. And there's a lot of 'helpful' info online for people interested in taking that path. Still, outside of 'gore' forums like this, very few of the sites I've seen included photographs of hanging decedents. So who knows. Maybe they don't think about it. Or maybe they are just fed up with everything and simply don't care about being found in their ugliest pajamas or stinking of their own shit. |

Re: Hanging Suicide (29 Years Old)
Sometimes you don't see it coming. My friend laid down in front of an oncoming train 15 years ago yet he was always the life of the party and cheerful even up to at least his last week of his life. He never drank or did any kind of recreational drugs but you wouldn't have guessed it given that this guy was crazy enough to do jumping jacks and other aerobic exercises on the dance floor of this club we used to hang out at. He was one of the goofiest dudes I have ever known and one of the wittiest also. To this day, I don't know what happened. One day he just decided he had enough. I am assuming it had something to do with his awful credit and massive debts, but I have never had any clarity or certainty on that, even after talking about what hppened at length with his younger brother and sister. While this may not have been the case with this particular incident, with Wayne he successfully managed to hide those flags, which ultimately ended up costing his life. Anyway, I'm just highlighting that point, not trying to be confrontational or anything. I understand what you are saying. |
