Interesting, but why cite the ages as supposedly relevant to her action? Age gap marriages like that and greater are not uncommon in that part of the world. My (then future) wife was 19 and I was 50 when we first made each other's acquaintance. The young woman in the video may have been very much opposed to the "arranged" marriage to this particular man - that is quite plausible. But there is no good reason to bring the ages into the story as an implied explanation for anything.

I cite what my sources cite. The age disparity was mentioned, not only in every single article, but in every single headline.

I understand that this age gap shit is your hill to die on. Fine, man, die on it. But no one here, or anywhere else really, is sympathetic to it. Even in societies that tacitly allow it or condone it, public reaction is seldom sanguine. The entire subcontinent has been espousing greater and greater blowback to age gaps like this. It goes hand in hand with their blowback about arranged marriages and a rigid caste system...all things that are mired in antiquated cultural customs that are widely considered out of synch with modern mores.

Go be your old man rebel self with your child-bride-turned-middle-aged-housewife, dude. Call your congressman or your doctor or your local newspaper editor or whomever you wish to call to bring attention to the injustice of it all.

But don't be slinging shit in my hanging thread about it. Society considers it highly relevant. I based this on a dozen articles themselves as well as comments from people local to the area. I don't include irrelevant nonsense in my posts. And I do not welcome your personalized soap box pedantry here either. This is not the place for it.

Fine. Point taken. I merely wished to point out that, even based on the article itself, the age gap could not be logically deduced as the cause of the young woman's displeasure with the relationship. It is natural to expect the gap to be mentioned.

But you are right. This is not the place for any soap boxing, one way or the other. We are in agreement concerning arranged (often forced upon the woman against her will) marriages. That alone can drive a young woman to despair as we have seen in a number of situations documented here.
