NEPAL - At around 7:00 A.M. on March 6, 2021, S. B. was found homicidally hanged in a partial position in Thakurbaba.

Student from India.

Found hanging in her room with her toes on the floor. Family insisted she was raped and murdered by some local guy she was chasing.

Turns out instead, he had dumped her for another girl and she was also depressed because her parents were fighting heavily and planning to get a divorce.

Autopsy was performed and the coroner's report said her body had no signs of violence or sexual assault, but showed many indications common to hanging suicide.

Her tongue was bitten between her teeth but not protruding, likely because the knot of the noose had slipped around to the front of her throat and forced her head back and upwards. Her fingers were curled into loose fists, the ligature marks on her neck matched the scarf she had used for a noose, and the presence of urine and feces were noted in her underpants and trousers.

Lot of background to this single picture set, but my subcontinent poli-sci is way too weak to parse much of it and I doubt many here care anyway.


Long and short of it is that this 22 year old woman was the young wife of a disgraced political party leader in Bangladesh. He was imprisoned in 2024 for multiple alleged human rights violations, leaving his new bride pregnant with their first child.

A year and a half later, he is still disgraced and she has burned through most of his money that was not seized. Much of it was spent on court cases trying to get him released, which has never succeeded. She had complained recently to him that she was often threatened or harassed in the streets because of his reputation and that she was depressed and hopeless.

So earlier this week she drowned the 9 month old kid in a bathtub and then went into her bedroom and hanged herself.

Only one pic and it doesn't show her face, but it made a lot of headlines in Bangladesh so here it is.

It also happens to be, in my recollection, the only time a scene photo has ever been posted here where a hanging suicide decedent shit themselves so much in the noose that the floor below her and her left foot are still visibly covered in feces.

I suppose it was bound to happen at some point with those loose pants they wear over there, but the photographers usually shoot around it.

NEPAL - At around 9:30 PM on October 4, 2018, 38-year-old S.M. committed suicide by hanging in Rautamai.

NEPAL - On January 2, 2019, 26-year-old M.B. was said to have committed suicide by hanging in Nepalgunj. She was cut down and was then taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. It is suspected that she was murdered by her husband's family.
