Was arguing with her ex-boyfriend on Whatsapp and told him that she was going to kill herself. He apparently drove over to her house to try to calm her down, but when he got there the door was locked and he looked in the window and saw her hanging from a rope. He hollered for the neighbors to come help him, broke the window, and cut her down but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

17-year-old hanged herself from a tree in Ecuador.

Unlike the case Vedderman posted above, I couldn't find any detailed info except the obvious. I also couldn't find any photos uncensored (across multiple sources, it was either censored the exact same way, or there was a dodgy attempt to remove the censor box). I did find her name and one alive photo, which is something, I suppose.

Teenager in Indonesia was found hanging by her boyfriend. The case indicates that she was worried about her period being late and her parents finding out that she was knocked up. The boyfriend wasn't especially supportive in a WA discussion. She sent him a message that said her body had 'betrayed her' and she couldn't bear the shame, so she would see him in heaven.

He got on his scooter and raced over to her hostel, but when he went inside he found her hanging in the bathroom. He said she was still making choking noises and her eyes were open so he called for neighbors in the hostel to come help him cut her down. They did so, but she was unable to be revived.

That's my broadstrokes interp of the data. here's a machine translation of the original news report:

24 year old married woman from UP allegedly hanged herself in her bedroom.

These days, most of the good hanging material I find comes from families of Indian women who died by asphyxiation and they're trying to prove that it was murder. Sometimes they're right, but most often it turns out to be a suicide after all; they just want someone to blame and their dowry money back.

So too with this case.

The family, who took most of the photographs here, believe she was murdered by her husband because they never paid the full dowry that they were supposed to pay.

They cited several reasons for this, including a ludicrous notion that her hands were balled up because she died punching him in self defense. Obviously, we know this is not the case. But it's pretty clear these families don't do a lot of research about suicide scenes beforehand.

As is common in such deaths, the young woman both urinated and defecated herself while asphyxiating (or shortly after). A lot of reports mention this and we sometimes see evidence of it in photos.

But in this rather bizarre case, her family opted to take a photograph of the piss puddle and pile of shit on the floor next to the bed. They claimed that because her body was already cut down and lying on the other side of the bed from her pile of waste and the waste was smeared, the husband had strangled her on that side of the bed and then moved her body to the other side, rigged up a noose and then staged a hanging.

Nevermind that she was wearing pants with extremely wide legs, so it would make some sense for feces to fall out of them if she were hanging, but hardly if she were being held down on the bed.

In any case, for his part, the husband complained that he stepped in her pile of shit by accident when trying to cut her down in a hurry and that he was only trying to save her.

The autopsy report found no signs of violence other than the noose mark, and all other physical signs pointed to hanging as well. Her family swore that the report was falsified by local authorities and appealed, but finally gave up when the courts were no longer interested.

24 year old Engineering student hanged herself in her hostel.

Of course, her parents insisted it was murder. They had no reason to believe this other than that 'she would never commit suicide and was a great student.' Initially they were also not allowed to see the body, as it had already been transferred to the morgue and was undergoing an autopsy.

They raised a huge stink, going to government officials and calling the press and organizing protests. Then the results of the postmortem were released. The copy of the postmortem, I got from a journalist who scanned it in from his phone and was a mix of Hindi and English. Difficult to read and I doubt many here actually care about the details.

Mostly, the salient points (other than that she was not wearing a bra and had beige underpants, for the weirdos) were that no indication of foul play was determined.

All of the usual signs of hanging suicide were present:
No violence other than the ligature, tongue protruding and bitten, eyes partially open, fecal stool in her shorts, hyoid bone was UNfractured.

The scene report was sketchy, but also mentioned no signs of a struggle or disruption. Urine was noted on the floor below her body. No blood or other fluids. No suicide-note was present. She was wearing earbuds and her phone was nearby so they think maybe she was talking to someone or listening to music right before she hanged herself. The door was locked from inside and had to be broken down.

After this report, the parents changed their tactics and instead of murder started blaming a professor for harassing her over her grades until she killed herself. More protests, more bullshit. EVERY suicide in India seems to 'have' an ulterior motive these days.
