Full suspension would likely result in more pain as opposed to the “discomfort” of partial suspension before loss of consciousness.

I believe you, but difficult - impossible really to imagine the pain. perhaps a thick rope would be less prone to cut deep, compaired to the clothesline I often see used on many pictures

I guess it’s all relative, but you’re most likely right about thinner ropes being more painful. It seems something thicker would be more efficient at cutting off circulation, as well.

Thinner is more painful but it will make pass over faster as it actually cutting off more efficient

I guess in full suspension it wouldn’t matter, much. My thinking would be that the thicker the ligature, the more contact area is made and the more thorough it would work. In the medical field, tourniquets used for stopping massive blood loss are getting wider and wider.
