I lost a very dear friend about a year ago when she went in to her mom's closet, took cord she had already prepared, wrapped it around her neck and slid down. She was in a coma for 2 days after, her mom pulled the plug after we all said goodbye.
She abused pills and coke for years. She just had DSS pull her infant daughter because of her drug abuse (she stayed high pregnant as well) and living w/ her mom in a one bedroom shack unfit for the baby........I tried so hard, I offered to get a place with her, tried to take her to counselors, drug tests, she did not try! at all!
I finally realized she did not want the help.

did you ever see Apt Pupil? The man explained pretty well about the gas chambers, and there was a leak one time and he could barely stomach it. It gave me such a visual, when he said that people were "dancing around" due to their deaths being prolonged because of the leak.
That was one twisted movie.

Nope But I heard of them running out of Hydrogen cyanide gas so they just pumped carbon monoxide gas into the chamber from cars. This would of taken a long long time for everyone to die unlike the standard 20 minutes for zyklon B (hyrdogen cyanide). The the reports from inside the chambers from Zyklon be are horrific, hundred of people would be thowing themselfs on one another, vomiting, urinating and defecateing on each other and in a genrral state of panic, male females and children all together. The book I was reading quotes how after the gassing you would find bodies pilled ontop of each other where the slowest ones to die would try and out climb the heavy gas. Anway we are digressing as this thread is on hanging.

To put it on topic the book I was reading describes how the imates who were hung in the camps by short drop (a favorite of nazis) would die in about 2 minutes with all the symptoms discribed.

Here are some pics of a recent hanging suicide, shortly after being cut down. The picture quality is poor, the chick is fat and dumpy, and the details aren't particularly interesting.

But hanging photos have been pretty scarce the past week or two, at least for me. Judging by the flow of conversation and lack of photos, things look to be equally dry for Baz, RD, SDI, and the others who post in this thread with some regularity. Oh well, at least the discussion about chicks pissing their pants while hanging has been somewhat interesting. :)

I'm going to have to start posting up autopsy reports of hangings if we don't get some action in here soon. :P

She was probably braindead for all intents and purposes within two minutes of starting the process. Maybe less, depending on how the noose was set up and how it impacted her throat.

There are some people who will tell you that she probably felt nothing but a little pressure and some light-headedness before passing out. Others will contend that she probably choked and suffered in agony before her brain mercifully fled before the coming death. The fact is, either case could be true.

I'd tell you that she 'was sure to have gone peacefully with no suffering', but it very well may not be truthful. And this is a reality/gore forum, not a suicide support group, so I don't really feel the need to sugarcoat things for you, no offense intended. She may have been in some pretty serious pain before she blacked out. Or she may well have just sort of 'drifted off.' No one will ever really know but her. Though the autopsy report may contain some clues as to her final moments, depending on its thoroughness.

As a final answer to your question, though, there was probably little her mother could have done. The damage her brain incurred likely came about within minutes. Further, as you said, she 'meant business.' Even if she'd been stopped this time, there'd have been nothing to stop her trying again.
