The antemortem image is incorrect, by the way. It was widely published at the time the body was found, but the actual girl in the photo has published on her FB page that she is NOT dead and that the news agencies are circulating the wrong photo.

The father said that he went to look for his daughter on Tuesday night and found her appartment ransacked. Supposedly, traffickers were there in search of valuables or money to pay off the drug debt, and as they found nothing they decided to kill her. The injuries found on the girl's body indicate that she may have been subjected to a torture session prior to the murder. Dayane was found dead thrown into the recycling container on 59th Street. She was half-naked and with some of her hair cut off. The experts testified as identifying knife woulds and other injuries. The girl was the 15th woman murdered in the Brazilian state of Ceará this month, and the 341st victim this year." |
