Guatemalan Man Used Machete to Murder Stepmother
A 33-year-old man, identified only as R., murdered his stepmother, 37, with a machete in a village in Alta Verapaz Department. Several neighbours heard the victim's screams, and they were able to capture R. and hand him over to the police.

Props to the neighbors  The image of the nearly severed hand breaks my heart for some reason.There wasn't much of an age gap between stepmother and stepson. Makes me ponder if this was yet another case of someone unable to handle unrequited love trying to "solve" the situation by killing the other person.  |
