What do you guys think, is that the main artery hanging out of her arm? If so, the length of it would suggest that it separated right at it's aortic connection. In most cases when an arm is severed from the body you can stop the bleeding, mainly by tourniquet. However, in this case there would have been no real way to stop the bleeding, given the inability to immediately access the separation point, out side of emergency surgical intervention. Which an EMT obviously can't do on the side of the road somewhere. |
