Good-bye to Grandma in Style
(Translated by yours truly from local media) SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- An 80-year-old Puerto Rican grandmother has been honored and remembered at her wake sitting in her favorite rocking chair and wearing her original wedding gown. At the San Juan funeral home, the corpse of Georgina Chervony Lloren was seen sitting in her red-cushioned rocking chair on Monday and wearing the gown from her second marriage 32 years ago. She was surrounded by plants and flowers, with a hand resting on a favorite book. Her daughter, Miriam Chervony, said her mother specified that this was how she imagined her wake. She died Sunday. Friends and family from the Island appeared pleased by the display, but some who were visiting from the States expressed shock. "This must be how they do things here," said a niece, from Brooklyn NY. "I think it is ghostly." The wake was held at Marin Funeral Home, which is infamous for its creative and thematic wakes. At one wake, a slain boxer was memorialized standing in a makeshift boxing ring. At another, the deceased was riding his motorcycle. |

Give it some visual effects and have the rocking chair moving while people come and visit.

Re: Good-bye to Grandma in Style
Somewhere on the net, I saw pics of the dead guy on his bike. To each his own, as the saying goes... sorry but it just gives me the heebie-jeebies! |
