I chose to interpret that to mean that she told him she was about to hang herself. That may have been inaccurate. But I have to gauge a lot on context and the context of her calling to complain about a sore throat and him finding her hanging dead didn't make much sense.

Anyway, it's good to discuss these cases. Part of the interest and fun of a board like this. Just don't get to hung up on some of the specific verbiage of foreign news stories. Between the slipshod reporting of the Rojas journalists and my own desire to make the article readable and interesting, it never hurts to wash it down with a grain of salt or two.

I do the best I can and, quite frankly, most other 'shock' sites don't even bother to include news stories at all. Only pictures and (as often as not) spurious data that the poster who lifted the image from DR makes up to suit himself. But I'm not perfect so remember the margin for error when getting too focused on dialogue lines.

They know just fine. Your problem is that you're using automated translation software without any contextual reference. Google often makes no allowance for colloquial expression, gendered nouns, pronouns, place names, sub/verb agreement, or tense consistency. You need to either speak Spanish, ask help from someone who speaks Spanish, or at least have an understanding of enough keywords to adjust the computer-generated translation for context.
