German Man Found Dead in a Thai Park
39 year old German national, Frank Glas Fischer had arrived in Pattaya in Thailand on 23rd December 2017. His body was discovered in a wooded area of Pratamnak Hill at around 10am on 5th January 2018. He had a leather belt wrapped tightly round his neck + severe burns to his legs. Rigor mortis had already set in. A medical examiner said that Frank must have been dead for at least 4 hours (another report states that he died 6 to 12 hours before being found). A bottle of alcohol was found near the body. There were no obvious signs of a struggle. A bag containing documents, clothing, a leather wallet, medicine, 2 empty beer cans + 2 empty bottles of methanol, belonging to Fischer, was found about 200 metres away. Police did not rule out suicide or homicide, saying more investigation was needed. On 6th January, Frank's wife stated that he was in the last stage of cancer + had sent her messages bidding goodbye. She added that she tried to find him + is not suspicious about his death. *Hopefully someone will be able to find the censored photos uncensored as I couldn't find them.* |

Re: German Man Found Dead in a Thai Park
This is why euthanasia should be legal. This man should of been allowed to die with dignity at home surrounded by loved ones. Instead he died alone, far from home, painfully, to be found by strangers. It's a damned tragedy.

Mm, perhaps so he could be found quickly & his family informed? Plus, finding a more remote location might have been difficult due to his illness, low stamina, etc.

Re: German Man Found Dead in a Thai Park
I would've thought that doing it in whatever place he was staying would have been better. Like in a guesthouse, when his stay is over, they would have checked the room. Either way, it's sad that he thought this was the best way to go. That's if it was suicide. All the articles I saw stated that it could have been homicide, but I haven't seen anything from after 6th January.

Re: German Man Found Dead in a Thai Park
Neighbor countries like the Netherlands and Belgium both have a decent euthanasia law, so why not go there you say? Probably because it takes a long time before everything is set and done. A few years possibly. The cancer was very aggresive and there was just not enough time to arrange it, probably suffered alot so suicide is a lot faster. Source: my mom, she has cancer and i live in one of the 2 countries i was talking about. Ex. Its very hard and complicated for people with alzheimer disease to get euthanasia since they are not in their right mind soon after getting the diagnosis. The patient must be fully aware of his/her condition, prospects, and options. If not, it means no euthanasia. |

Re: German Man Found Dead in a Thai Park
off topic ''fun fact'' the woman who proposed the euthanasia law in 2002 in the Netherlands was murdered 2 years ago, the 81 year old lady died from 41 stabwounds. The perps motive : because divine inspiration told him to do so, holding her responsible for the Dutch policy on euthanasia. ( ie: paranoid psychosis in the context of schizophrenia )
