German Jens-Uwe Schiebiella, 58, Found Dead in Kampot, February 3, 2019
Jens-Uwe Schiebiella, a 58-year-old German man, was found dead in his rented room in Kampot, Cambodia, on February 3, 2019. His body had remained undiscovered long enough to reach an advanced state of decomposition. Police taped off the single-story building and moved Schiebiella's body onto plastic sheeting in the yard. A passport found at the scene identified him as a German national whose residence was listed as Gütersloh, Germany.

Kampot is great if you like the French Colonial feel of the city and enjoy top notch peppers. On the other hand, the crime/security status is quite another cup of tea. The cops are corrupt and tied to the local criminal gangs. Drug wars are not uncommon. But this is also the case in a lot of South America. Take it from an international traveler.

It seems a lot of Europeans with terminal illnesses wind up here. Is it the easy access to drugs to ease the pain?
