Gang Member Shot Dead by Police
In Toritama on the afternoon of 24th June 2018, police were notified that there were armed people + they went to the scene. When they arrived, they were met with gunshots. The police had no option but to open fire. 30 year old Leilian Júnior da Silva was killed.     On 8th June, less than 3 weeks before his death, Leilian, who was regarded as the leader of a gang involved in drug trafficking + several homicides, was sought by the police. Other members of the gang were caught + had a load of drugs seized, but Leilian couldn't be found. He had only been out of jail for a few months.  More than 3 years before, on 3rd March 2015, Leilian had been arrested for illegal possession of a weapon + attempted murder. Seized from him were several guns, money + a phone.  |
