Re: Frozen Alive
Once frostbite reaches stage 2 all feeling is lost. When hypothermia sets in the nervous system starts shutting down and sensation of pain is one of the first things to go. Better than burning alive in my opinion.

Re: Frozen Alive
Yes and no. Depends. On the feet it really really hurts but that is the early stage. I got that when I went to work one morning in Sturgeon Bay WI. It was like 33 degrees and there was water puddles of slush. got my feet a bit wet. Then soon after work started the temp dropped below 0 with high winds. I was standing on a steel platform welding some overhead beams on a ship. My boots froze up quick. Minor frostbite and the pain went away by the next day. You can literally see the frozen patches when you take your boots off. Warm quickly with warm air and then change out into dry socks. The worst thing to do is wait till the pain goes away and keep working. Then you will get the permanent kind of frostbite as the crystal damage will go much deeper than the outer layer of skin. And it doesn't really hurt after that. And it hurts a great deal as the skin thaws and the feeling comes back. Being frozen alive has got to suck.
