French Woman Drowned in Phuket
A 23-year old French tourist drowned a while ago (Aug, 21) in Phuket while swimming with friends. She was found 20 mins after she went missing. Sorry, only censored pics available SO FAR. Thanks for danielsan1971 for posting the Australian tourist incident as the search for more details of that particular case led me to this case. What a shame. There seems to be a lot of drowning recently. It was the first day on the popular holiday island Phuket for a 23-year-old French woman. Only hours after her arrival, she was found dead. Lifeguards recovered the body of the young woman Saturday afternoon at about 16:00 after she went swimming in the sea in Phuket’s Sa Khu subdistrict on the west coast of the island. “We were informed of the incident at 16:05,” deputy investigator Pol Lt Tanakan Uchonratsami from Sa Khu Provincial Police Station said. Arriving at Nai Thong Beach, police found unconscious a 23-year-old tourist from Nanterre in France, lying in the sand. Lifeguards and rescue workers were giving mouth-to-mouth ventilation to save the life of the young woman. She was rushed to Thalang Hospital where doctors could not do more than pronounce her dead. While investigating the fatal swimming accident, Pol Lt Tanakan found out that she had been to Nai Thong Beach with three or four of her friends. “The group went swimming when she was hit by a wave and washed away by waves,” he explained. It was the first visit to the island for her, who had turned 23 on August 11. She had arrived on Phuket earlier that day after spending some time in Chiang Mai. Photographs on her Instagram account indicate that she had been staying at the Andaman White Beach Resort, about 1.5 kilometres south of Nai Thong Beach. “Dream hotel in Phuket,” she wrote in one of the last uploaded pictures only hours before her death. “We’ve just booked another night because it’s so nice.” Sa Khu Provincial Police Station has ordered to put up red flags to bar beachgoers from entering the water until the investigation is over. ~Sharon |

"but there is a rip tide!" "Phuk-et, lets go swimming!" "she's dead, what do we do now?" "Phuket before she gets cold!" |
