This is a 40 something year old Hispanic male who was struck by an automobile while attempting to cross a highway somewhere south of the border. Obviously he's dead and has suffered severe trauma to his lower extremity and certainly significant multi-system trauma not readily visible in the photo.

The bone protruding is the proximal head of the right femur (that's the thigh bone to my third grade readers). Notice how his right hip is splayed open and how his right leg is rotated laterally compared to his left leg. Stabilizing this type of injury in the field would be (and is) a real pain in the ass.
