The Fragonard Museum
These models were created in the 18th Century by French anatomist Honore Fragonard, at the Alfort National Veterinary School in Paris, France. The exact method of preservation used by Fragonard was a secret, but it is thought that cadavers were first bathed in alcohol, then injected with wax mixed with turpentine. Fragonard produced over 3000 specimens in his lifetime. Photographed at the Fragonard Museum, Paris, France.
Perhaps the 'Bodyworlds' exhibition was inspired by this man's work.
