Found Dead in His Cell
This happened in Illinois. His body was found on July 11. 27-year-old Michael Jefferson was awaiting trail on gun charges and allegedly suffered from bipolar disorder. He had bruises, scratches and a bloody gash on his head when he was found. His mother is demanding a full-scale investigation into what caused his yet unexplained death.

Maybe, on a facial level, but the rest of the body is covered up. He could be a gory mess under the sheets, for all I know. I think his friend leaked these photos. He doesn't look like an utter mess from this angle, but that could just be as close as the friend was allowed to get. He wasn't allowed to see the rest of the body. |

On July 11, Michael Jefferson was found unresponsive in his cell and taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. By the next morning, the Illinois Department of Corrections had taken Jefferson’s body to another hospital and then sent the body to his family saying that he died of natural causes. However, when Jefferson’s family saw his body, they noticed blood in his nose, many bruises on his back, a bruised lip, and a lump on his forehead. Moreover, his genitals were swollen. After the pictures of injured black dead man spread on the internet, the Illinois Department of Corrections released a statement saying that there was no trauma to Jefferson’s body when he was transported from Menard Correctional Center to Chester Memorial Hospital on July 11th. The IDC claimed the swelling is a result of the body’s rapid decomposition. But Jefferson’s family didn’t buy the story. A 27-year-old healthy man died like an animal. He is the fourth prisoner to die under suspicious circumstances in a Menard Correctional Facility. |

OK, he's 27, and with all those wounds just "magically" died of "natural causes"? Really?  Regardless of the alleged bipolar disorder, was he beaten by the cops or was it an attack from other inmates? Too many unanswered questions here. Hope the family can get their answers and be at peace. |
