So this case is rather convoluted in and of itself, further compounded by the fact that Thai is a brutal pain in the scrote for a dumb-ass white man like me to translate effectively. Fortunately, Etsu (who speaks and reads Thai fluently) still makes a little time to help me out when I find an interesting story that wants translating. She and I have been working on this one for about 5 weeks now, finding photos, watching newscasts, and gathering info to translate. I think I finally have it all polished up, plus it finally went to court this month. So, time to post.

What we have here is a young Thai woman, 21 years of age. Well, actually she was 'E-saan', which Etsu has explained to me is sort of the Thailand equivalent of inbred hillbillies from Kaintuck and generally looked down upon by most 'normal' Thais. Anyway, here's this girl. Her parents named her Sweet Syrup. That's not a joke, by the way. It is the actual English translation of her birth name.

She rose to some national acclaim a couple of years ago by being on the Thai version of American Idol and coming in 4th place. Her aspiring singing career never took off, though, so she just went about her normal life as a student, bumming around, doing whatever. She lived in the city and went back to the small resort community she grew up in every summer to help her parents run their hotel/eatery.

So on her most recent trip back, she went out with some friends for drinks. The whole mess of them got pretty liquored up. During the evening, she met some guy at the bar. As you can see from the photos here, he was a real fucking winner. CCTV caught them all sitting and drinking together though, with the old dude always leaning in close to little Syrup. Though I'll note that the cameras never showed her shying away or looking horrified. She seemed pretty into it.

When it came time for the evening to wind down, Old Dude (whose given name translates only to M. Yup. Just that. The letter M. Not an abbreviation, but his acual name These fucking Thais.) offered to take Sweet Syrup home. She seemed amenable to it and her friends, half in the bag themselves, all went their seperate ways after putting her in M's back seat. Her home was less than 5 miles from the bar.

Shortly thereafter, some farmer hauling pigs in the middle of the night (!!) called the police to report that he'd just seen a vehicle run headlong into a tree ahead of him. As he was on the phone with the cops, he said some guy got out and staggered off. He went up to check on the scene as the cops were en route and saw a girl, not moving, in the FRONT passenger seat of the car. Note, by the way, that this is about 25 minutes after the CCTV showed them leaving the bar.

So it turns out that Sweet Syrup was sprawled across the front passenger seat, dead as Oliver Cromwell (may he ever burn in the chambers of Hell), with her neck snapped like a twig. The cops got her ID, called her folks, and bundled her off to the morgue.

Now, while the cops didn't mention it, it is noticed by both the morgue attendant and her parents (as well as you folks, I suspect) that something's a bit off about Sweet Syrup's attire. Principally, that her shorts are on backwards. Bit odd, that, eh? They were facing the right way when she left the bar, but 25 minutes later she's stone dead, M is in the wind, and she's got her jeanshorts on backwards. Oh and did I forget to mention that her cash, watch, and jewelry are also missing? Her panties too!

Of course the parents immediately freak. They call her friends and assume that she was raped and then murdered, with the car accident being a staged event to cover the homicide. Once they start posting M's photo to social media, half of Thailand is on board with the lynch mob. Apparently he's just got one of those faces that screams to be hit or incarcerated.

But it's all a bit fishy. I mean, first off, staging a car accident WHILE you're driving the car is a bit dicey, even for a barmy looking dude like M.

Second off, how did she get into the front seat if not of her own free will? He woulda had to park on the side of the road and then manhandle her unconscious body into the front seat, risking being seen, and then stage the car wreck.

Thirdly, if he raped her, why take the time to put her shorts back on, backwards, and THEN manually throttle her to death? Why not just leave her naked or at least put the shorts on the right way? She had a full bladder when she died and urinated all over the front passenger seat, soaking her shorts in the process. So we know that she was in the front seat, WEARING the shorts backwards when she died.

M told a much more plausible story when they dragged him in. He claimed that she'd come up into the front seat with him of her own free will, that he'd worn a condom and they had consensual sex, and that she was a bit drunk and it was dark so she likely pulled her shorts on backwards and then fallen asleep in the seat. As for the panties, he claimed that when he made his play for third base, there was nothin but bush. Humorous Thai side note, on one of the videos (I watched dozens) the family is on a talk show discussing the case and the host actually asks her father, point blank, if he could verify whether or not his daughter typically went commando. Fucking Thais...

Anyhow, M was crucified in the court of public opinion. Everyone who saw the case rushed to social media to opine that no way would the cute young Idol contestant EVER consent to having sex with a balding, creep-ass, low-rent scrub like M. So it HAD to be rape.

He claimed that she tugged her shorts back on and fell asleep in the passenger seat and he was groggy and swerved to miss something in the road, causing the accident. He was minorly injured in the wreck, but when he realized she had a broken neck and was likely dead, he panicked and got out and ran away.

In this case, however, it seems like justice very likely did prevail. After weeks of being in national news and dragged through the courts, M was finally convicted of two charges: Leaving the scene of an injury accident and sexual assault. They seem to have drawn up just short of a full 'rape' charge because they did believe that she was not forced, but her blood alchohol level at time of death indicated that she was way too drunk to properly consent and may well have been partially unconscious throughout the act.

I personally find it highly unlikely that he killed her, as the family and friends asserted, but have no trouble whatsoever believing that he took advantage of a nearly-comatose drunk chick and then left her dying with a broken neck in the car while he ran off with her jewelry. No theft charge was presented, however, so he must have returned it. LOL

Yeah, I put quite a bit of time into searching for these the past few weeks. i'd be surprised if I missed any that were public. But ALWAYS better safe than sorry.

Just as an aside, a detail I forgot to mention in the main post...the blood on her shirt sleeve is not hers, it is his. The airbag smashed his nose when it deployed and he was bleeding like a stuck pig. Theoretically he dripped blood all over her while checking her for life signs. Her only injury was a broken neck.

Interesting case, thanks for the write up.
I find it weird he's bleeding all over the place and then decides to rob her from her belongings knowing she's dead. What was he going to tell the next day if that pig farmer hadn't seen him. Weird bunch.
