In November 2017, a 26-year-old woman was killed after being shot six times in a bag-snatching on Vicente Avenue in Penafrancia, Barangay Cupang, Antipolo City, Rizal, Philippines. Police said she was on her way home when a robber attempted to steal her bag. After she resisted, he shot her and escaped on a motorcycle with an accomplice driving. The city government subsequently offered P100,000 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.

Although the killing was dated November 9, 2017, press reports place it at about 8 p.m. on November 10, and comparison with a second killing reported two days later supports the November 10 date. She had formerly taught mathematics at ICCT Colleges and was employed as a receptionist when she died, making her a former rather than current instructor. Police treated the case as a street robbery that turned fatal when she resisted, not a drug-related killing. Her name, as published in press reports, has not been independently confirmed here and is omitted.

Vonne Aquino (reporter): Bernadette Macam, a receptionist, was going home when she was shot at Vicente Avenue, Peñafrancia, Brgy. Cupang, Antipolo City just before 8:00 PM last night [November 9, 2017]. According to a report by Antipolo City Police, the victim was walking when a man snatched her bag. The victim fought back until she was shot by the suspect. Based on the investigation, the suspect fled and rode on a getaway motorcycle driven by his accomplice. The suspect robbed the victim's bag containing cellphone and money. Bernadette had numerous ambitions, and left her son behind.
Maura Macam (victim's mother): Whoever you did to my daughter, why did you do to my daughter? She did nothing at you. You should rather rob her belongings, but you riddled her [with bullets]. You should have conscience.
