A fire broke out at the New City Commercial Center (NCCC) mall in Davao City last December 23, 2017. There were 30+ people (believed) trapped at the call center at the top floor of the mall. As of this posting, one dead body was found.

Authorities and even President Duterte (which by the way is from Davao City) said that there are zero chances of survival among those trapped.

P.S. This is my first time posting here, and since this is still a developing story, contributions, new updates and pictures (especially the dead bodies) are welcome.

Yes and it is the only known circulating pic of dead body found and this was confirmed by authorities.

Health and safety is treated like a joke over there. All the laws about fire escape exits and sprinklers, alarms, all treated with disdain and contempt.

I have stayed in hotels there which had the crash doors chained up!

The Ozone disco fire in ‘96 killed 162 people, doors chained shut, and a building right against one wall totally blocking that emergency exit.

And there have been many more.

Plus they had a typhoon last week that killed 200 people in that same area. God is great.....he is within and without......and all those Catholic idiots there will go home tonight and praise the lord for saving so many people in the fire.....and the storm.......

I agree with you, although response time is great with davao city 911, they lacked the necessary equipment to put out a blaze that big. Plus the building was approved with outdated permits and reports say that building has poor sprinklers.

Sad christmas for Mindanao, lots of things happened in 2017 on that island, and this two just came days ago.

And the sad thing that some people blame the government for the tragedies that happened in the country. Not nature or their own fault. Politics here is very divided and unhealthy and even this tragic times they inject politics into the issue especially our president.
