The standard protocol for rescue workers is to make sure the site is secure. Active fire from a crashed fighter jet makes me less likely to even go near that thing until it was secured, let alone take videos and walk up close. Rule of thumb, pun intended, is the site should fit within your thumb to determine a safe distance.

Or else you end up like those people in rural Mexico who all went to scoop fuel from an overturned oil tanker and literally 40 people died cause it caught fire and burned them all alive. Tons of examples in Africa too.

Jet fuel won't ignite like petrol, it's faaaaar more stable...

They said it was operated by a contractor, so I think Tchris idea about adversary training is probably correct.
